After graduating with honours in computer science from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Michael began his creative journey with his first job in the video game industry in 1993. His first day of work entailed watching endless episodes of MTV’s Beavis and Butthead, for which he later made a Sega Genesis game. After honing his skills for 5 years, he co-founded Barking Dog Studios in 1998, a 60 person gaming company, where he worked on projects for Disney and Rockstar Games as a designer and producer. Barking Dog was later purchased by Rockstar Games in 2002. Having a passion for travel, Michael lived abroad in Europe from 2004 to 2007. Michael always had a video camera in his hand during these adventures, becoming an experienced camera operator and editor as he molded his travel footage into entertaining films. It was in Prague, Czech Republic, that he met his wife, Martina. They now have 3 young children; Lukas, Daniel, and Chloe. On his return to Vancouver he co-founded Sandcastle Pictures with Dalj Brar in 2009. His initial role with the company was primarily related to cinematography and post production, but has shifted into the producer role more often in recent projects.
